 Songwriting

Songwriting is more of a craft than a service, but sometimes the two are one.

I write and co-write music with other musicians and lyricists.  It is a deeply rewarding experience.

My rules about co-writing are that each person brings to the song his/her special gifts.  A written agreement is signed before the process begins that states:  If both (or all) writers are happy with the results, the song is finished and considered co-written.   If not- each takes back their contributions and each goes on their way.   Everyone is still friends!

If all are pleased with the results: each writer will share in the expense of producing the demo, copyrighting and writer's share of the publishing.

If a writer has a Publishing company of his/her own, the Publishing will be split accordingly also.    If not, I will publish the song through my company- Gazlay Music, Co.  ASCAP.   If I publish the song, I will cover the costs of making a score of the song.

Writer credit must be put on all copies of recordings and sheet music.

The exception to the above is if I am commissioned to write a song "for hire" - meaning the person pays me a fee to write a song for them and they own the song when finished.   This is a totally negotiated process and I am willing to work with this aspect also.  I do accept considerable compensation for this service.

Writing and
Co-writing sessions

If you are a writer, I'd be interested in speaking with you.   As a Writer/Producer, I'm very interested in "Artist Development" which means- finding the perfect song to match a particular performer.

I do belong to www.taxi.com and have the opportunity to submit songs to industry professionals when they request them.

Please call me to discuss this option further.
